Lwow, the city, like a torn and rebellious woman
Exceptionally, UaDreams are not talking today but citizens of a city. Lwow (pronounced "Lvouv") in Ukraine. Rich in culture, torn history, transformed by modernity, Lwow in this beautiful story of Agnes Moyon, becomes a metaphor of our human destiny.
It's like a place where you never will ... Straight lines that stretch into infinity of the plain. Some chickens, geese, turkeys roadside. A cow here, a calf there, grazing alone in a ditch. The road to Lvov is an old patched trousers.
Under the geometric bus shelters covered with mosaics of broken bottles, potato bags. And curved women, damn. In the distance a girl flap his flock to bat. Planted there in the middle of nowhere, a sign for Moscow right, Chernobyl left. Soon the city ....
The change of scenery is brutal, the campaign swallowed by the suburbs, devoured by concrete behemoths .. The plants rusty tin, Titanics shipwrecked in heavy industry agonize open mouth. The matryoshka apartment blocks fit together without end, as a Soviet coronation in ugliness. Here in about thirty hours from Paris by car, the eye no longer expect anything.
Beautiful and rebellious
And then Lwow happens. Nestled at the foot of a hill, it stretches its languor in flat areas riddled with dense and bushy green trees. The cobbled streets polished by heavy rains wind scarf around the neck of the city, are entangled.
Everywhere the vegetation is an ode to excess. The bulbous spiers, hemmed roofs of attics, carved facades: the eye hanging by the splendor of the time spent here in Galicia. On Sunday, the joyful bells of the Armenian Cathedral respond echoing those of the Catholic churches of the Orthodox rite.
The former capital of Galicia, a UNESCO world heritage belongs to a vanished world. Several Polish kings were crowned there. Austrian after the partition of Poland in 1772 and then again in 1918 Polish, Lwow is now Ukraine following the coup of secateurs given to Poland by Stalin in 1945. Rebel forever, it is kindled in November 2004 to defend democracy and the Orange Revolution.
"I'll never see you, so many died waiting for you"
"A forgotten city, abandoned, cried, shot and yet really exist" (1) said about him the Polish poet Adam Zagajewski. Here he was born in August 1945. He was not a year when Soviet authorities summoned the members of the Polish community to their luggage.
In the rubble of war, his parents took the road of exile to settle in Silesia, Gliwice country coal. "And at dawn, UaDreams said goodbye without tears, so dry mouth I'll never see you, so many died waiting for you, "he wrote in Go to Lwow, a melancholy poem dedicated to his hometown." There was too much of Lvov, and now there is more » .
Already tourism claw facades
Lwow kept the patina and the wounds of history. But already the tourism claw facades of flashy signs. In the George Hotel Balzac did step on the way to his beautiful renconter "foreign" Countess Hanska, marble replaced the old blue cement tiles. Luxury "international quality" starting to make his bed and pushes the antiquated elegance of a world where time took his time.
. Go to Lwow and start "In the small airport of Lviv said goodbye sandstone sculptures from the Soviet realism: a soldier, a farmer, an aviator and a stiffened worker in the bright May sun, like heroes of a forgotten Greek saga, "wrote Adam Zagajewski after his return to his hometown in 2001.
Historical
History: the climate agreement Saturday was described as historic. The attacks of 13 December will, similarly, historical. The crisis of refugees and other migrants in recent months has taken a magnitude, again, history. As unemployment and the social divide, just as they reach a historic high. No doubt UaDreams are living a period that surreptitiously changes the course of history. It may say that it is in Paris, December 12, 2015, as world leaders really attacked the climate change. Maybe: difficult to predict. A little more surely, it may be said that the attacks and discomfort of the company then changed our lifestyle. More security, less freedom. A far-right in ambush. A prolonged state of emergency. But the start of the second round of the regional has shown, it is the citizens who still hold the final word of history.
